About
Recipes by Mom is an independent home-cooking site. We publish recipes for the meals most people actually cook: weeknight dinners, breakfasts, simple baking, soups and stews, a few lighter swaps on familiar dishes, and the bakes and casseroles that feed a whole table.
About the name
The name comes with the domain. From roughly 2007 to 2023, recipesbymom.net was home to a different family recipe site run by other people. We have no connection to its former owners, we did not take over any of its recipes or content, and nothing here is copied from it.
We kept the name because it describes the kind of cooking we want to publish: practical, unfussy food made at home. But to be plain about it, there is no single mom behind this site, real or invented. You will not find personal stories or family anecdotes attached to the recipes, because they would not be true.
Who writes the recipes
Recipes are prepared by the site’s small editorial team and signed as The Recipes by Mom kitchen. We use AI tools to help draft recipes, then an editor checks each one before it goes up: quantities and conversions, timings and oven temperatures, that every ingredient is used in the method, food safety temperatures, and the allergen note. The full process, and its limits, is on How our recipes are made.
One limit worth stating here: our recipes are not individually cooked in a test kitchen before publishing. They follow standard home-cooking ratios and methods, and we fix them when readers tell us something does not work.
What every recipe includes
- Prep, cook and total time, and how much it makes.
- Ingredients in US measures with grams or milliliters alongside.
- Numbered steps with the visual cues that tell you when to move on.
- Storage and reheating notes, and safe internal temperatures where meat, fish or eggs are involved.
- An allergen note listing the common allergens the recipe contains.
We do not publish calorie counts or nutrition figures, because we do not calculate them and would rather leave them out than guess.
No ads, no sponsors
There is no advertising, no sponsored content and no affiliate links on this site. When a recipe mentions an ingredient or a pan, it is generic, never a brand.
